Here are some photos I took of Starkville, Mississippi during a recent visit on January 3-4, 2005. I figured some of my ex-Starkville friends might get a kick out of seeing some current photos.

Downtown Starkville |
Downtown Starkville now has fancy static-touch buttons for crossing the street. |
The Chester Hotel (formerly the Guesthouse Inn & Suites, formerly the Statehouse Hotel) has a coffee shop on the bottom floor. |

There's now a Quizno's on University Drive near downtown. Ahhhh, a little taste of Denver right here in Starkville. |
A "French Quarter" style building in the University Drive area. |
The Mississippi Research and Technology Park has now been made politician-compliant. (Here's an old picture from 1997.) |
||||||
The new State Highway 12 extension to the new bypass can be seen from the research park. |
The new entrance to MSU, across from the research park. |
MSU students can now enjoy quality 24-hour dining at the Waffle House! Kids these days don't know how good they have it. |

Highway 82 near the Waffle House. |
And of course, the most significant change to Starkville is the new bypass around town. U.S. Highway 82 and State Highway 25 now bypass the city entirely. This picture was taken from the new Highway 82 at its interchange with the new Highway 12 extension. |

There's an exit for Downtown Starkville! This is the interchange for North Jackson Street. |
|

||||||
Here, northwest of town, is the interchange where the new Highway 82 meets the new Highway 25. |
|
I drove further on Highway 82 before turning around to backtrack to Highway 25. Here's a shocking sign: "Starkville NEXT 3 EXITS". I guess Starkville isn't a small town anymore! |

The new Highway 25 has an interchange for the old Highway 82, which has been renamed to State Highway 182. |

The rear of the new Wal-Mart. |

Highway 25 becomes two-lane north of town. Maybe some day this route will be four-laned all the way to Jackson. |
This is the apartment complex that I lived in for a while, back in college. Rent was $250 for a two-bedroom apartment back then, but rents have recently skyrocketed to $385. |

A dark, blury picture of 706 McKee, another place I used to live. |
Guess what store is occupying the old Wal-Mart site, now? |
You can see all of Starkville from the glass elevator in the downtown Chester Hotel! |

Unfortunately, the ethernet jack was on the opposite side of the room from the desk. |
Starkville Cafe is open 24-hours once again. |
