After driving southwest of Portland on the backroads a while, I entered a mountainous area of Yamhill County and saw signs for "Bald Peak State Park". I figured such a place would be sure to have some spectacular views of the surrounding valley, so I decided to follow the windy turnoff road for the five miles to the park. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a rather small state park (about the size of a city park) and had no interesting views. I took some pictures anyway... this picture of the parking lot shows most of the park.

US-26 near Sandy, Oregon. The US-26 highway is a nice four-lane road here, to help carry the hordes of yuppies between Portland and Mount Hood.
