Freiburg, Germany

I asked the attendant at the train information desk in Heidelburg for an itinerary to Rothenburg, assuming that she would know I was talking about the medieval tourist city in Bavaria. Unfortunately, she sent me on my way to Rothenburg, Switzerland. I could tell that I was heading in the wrong direction, but I figured that these Germans with their fancy trains probably knew what they were doing. I had traveled as far south as the black forest before I realized that my itinerary indicated a destination of "Rothenburg CH", "CH" being the abbreviation for Switzerland.

Since my train pass wasn't valid in Switzerland, I got off at the last city before leaving Germany: Freiburg. It turns out that Freiburg is a very pretty place, and I'm glad I was diverted.
