From Denver, I flew to Philadelphia, and then flew overnight to Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris. I took a train from the airport to Gare du Nord (north train station), which was near my hotel. After checking in, I managed to run around town doing some wild sightseeing, despite having stayed up all night. The next morning, I toured the Louvre, then hopped on a train to Amsterdam.

This was my master to-do and packing list for the trip. All this extensive planning didn't save me from having to make a mad run across Downtown Denver to catch the airport bus just in the nick of time. |

Montparnasse |
This picture shows the Heinleinesque high-speed travelator at the Montparnasse metro station that's discussed in this BBC article. Unfortunately, it was shut down when I visited. Commuters get to choose between the "Très Rapide" high-speed travelator, or the old-fashioned "Très confortable" travelator. |

Wow, you come out of the subway station at the Louvre to see this astonishingly huge museum! But that's nothing compared to when you walk into the courtyard and see... |
...even more Louvre! This is one enormous museum. I wonder what's beyond those gates on the far side... |
Holy smokes! These two buildings you see on either side stretching into the distance are also part of the Louvre! AND, the Louvre occupies an enormous underground area between the two wings! You could get lost in this place! The glass pyramid ahead is the entrance to the Louvre. You can read more about the Louvre at the Wikipedia. |

I wasn't sure if I would be allowed to take a picture of the real Mona Lisa, so I took a picture of this poster. |
Hey, which way is the Mona Lisa room? Ah, thanks! |
